Do You Wish You Didn't Have Negative Thoughts?

Do you hate your sister's boyfriend, your spouse's parents,
the way someone cracks their gum, coffee breath, people who
mumble, people who wear purple?

The way we feel about things affects our performance, our
reactions, our well-being.

So wouldn't it be great if you could nullify those feelings
that aren't getting you anywhere? If you could nullify those
feelings that put you in the position of judging people before
getting to know them?

Well, guess what. You can! There's a technique that's called
*Collapsing Negative Experiences*. And here's how you do it:

Sit down and relax. Now, think of the most powerful, positive
experience you've ever had in your life. Take your time and
really embellish the experience in your mind -- until you feel
really good, really powerful.

Just imagine taking that feeling and putting it in your right
hand.

Now, think of a time when you felt powerful, positive, loving
feelings, and put those feelings in your right hand as well, feeling
how they feel there.

Remember a time when you laughed or giggled hysterically,
when you were really having a great time. Take that experience
and put it into your right hand as well. Notice how it feels with
all those loving,
positive, powerful feelings.

Now, see what color these powerful feelings have come
together to create in your right hand.

See what shape they have come together to form.

If those feelings were to say something to you, what
would they say? And, if you were to give them a sound,
what would they all sound like?

What is the texture of all these feelings as they come
together in your hand?

Take a moment and enjoy all these feelings, then close
your right hand and just let them remain there.

Now, open your left hand, and, in it, place a negative
experience where you were frustrated, depressed, angry,
afraid, or worried.

Place it in your left hand. There is no need to feel it inside,
just let it sit there. Make sure you disassociate from it -- it's
just over there in your left hand.

Now I want you to become aware of the different
submodalities there, also. What color does this negative
situation create in your left hand?

What shape is it?

Does it feel light or heavy? What's the texture of it.

What does it say to you, and what sound does it make?

Now we will *collapse anchors.*

Take the color in your positive right hand, and make
believe it's a liquid. Quickly pour it into your left hand.
Giggle and have fun with it as you do.

Next, take the sound that your left hand was making
and plop! drop it into your right hand.

What did your right hand do with it?

Now take the feelings in your right hand and pour them
into your left hand. What happens to your left hand the
minute they enter it?

Now, bring your hands together in a clap, and hold them
there for a few minutes until they feel equal. Now the color
in both hands should be the same. Ditto with the feelings.

So, how does the experience in your left hand feel? Are
the negative feelings gone? I bet so.

You know what you've done? You've stripped it of the
power it had on you! Feels good, doesn't it? Took care of
your *problem*, didn't it? How does that feel? Like maybe
you've taken control of your feelings? That's a great feeling,
isn't it!

You'll find that the more you use this technique, the less
you're negative feelings will come around.
