Are
You In A Self-Help Rut?
~ By Jan Tincher

Do you ever think: "I have read so many self
help books, but I'm still in the same place, the same
rut!"
Let me ask you this: Do you think that when you read novels,
your life will change as the hero or heroine's does? That
when you read someone's biography, your life would change
as his or hers did? That when you read a Superhero comic
book, you would have Superhero powers?
No, right?
Then, why should reading self-help books be any different?
It isn't. Because reading doesn't count. You can read all
day, but not much in your life will change, will it?
If reading doesn't count, what does?
Acting. Acting counts.
Why? You've heard "Actions do speak louder than words",
haven't you? Words don't mean anything until you act on
them.
Here's an example: If you slouched one day, then read a
book on how not to slouch, and you still slouched the next
day, nothing changed, did it? YOU have to act on what you've
learned, not file it away for a rainy day. Your actions
are speaking for you. The book (words) won't until you take
action.
Books and other self-help materials are only useful if you
are serious about taking action. Books, articles, tapes,
etc. give ideas, provide knowledge, and hopefully motivate.
But they won't change your life unless you follow up and
do something.
Here's how you do it:
When you read many books on the same subject, there tends
to be clutter in your mind. If you're ready to make a change,
do it in a logical manner.
To start with, pick out 3 of the best books on your subject
and make notes on every technique the author uses. By making
notes, I mean to write down the techniques you need to practice,
what it will teach you, and how you plan to use the techniques
in real life.
When you have them all written down, start doing them. One
a day. Make a journal of the uses and the results. That
way you can make changes. If there wasn't any progress from
a certain book, when you are finished with it, get that
book out of your house. That will help you get rid of your
clutter, physically and mentally.
There are many self-help materials that will help you make
changes in your life. Many I highly recommend, such as the
Sedona Method (You can read more here, they even give you
a free tape.) The
Sedona
Method.
BUT .
. . they will only take you where you are 100% committed
to go. 100% committed. Think about that before you order
anything. Once you order a book, a program, whatever, be
prepared to make their thoughts, ideas and inspirations
part of your daily life.
Thanks
for reading,
Jan
