What are *dominant thoughts*?
Dominant thoughts are goals or obsessions that
you continually think about. They are what your actual priorities
are.
Look around your life and you will see the results of your dominant
thoughts. Are they depressing dominant thoughts? Or can you see
joy in your life? If not joy, why not? Thoughts are something
YOU control. Start controlling your thoughts and see what a difference
it makes in your life. Here is an article that will help, "Do
You Get Depressed?". Click here: http://www.tameyourbrain.com/depressed.htm

What is Self-Talk?
Self-talk is what you say to yourself. The silent
conversations you have with yourself every waking second of your
life.
Self-talk comes out in the conversations you have with others.
Do you say things like "I'm so depressed." "That's
so depressing." "That depresses me." If you do,
then stop it. Here's an article that will help, "What
Did You Say?" Click here http://www.tameyourbrain.com/whatyousay.htm
If you don't like what you say to others, watch what you say to
yourself.
What kind of self-talk do YOU have?
===========================================
Bad things are happening all the
time.
Good things are happening all the time.
What you are paying attention to controls how your body will feel.
If you are hearing, reading, seeing depressing
things all the time, then your body will ultimately feel depressed.
It won't be able to help it.
Just like you can't put a child in a family that yells and curses
all the time and expect her or him to feel happy.
Think about it. Take control of your thoughts so that you can
live a happy and fulfilled life. Give yourself a chance. Stop
hearing, reading, seeing depressing things all the time. Start
seeing good things, doing good things, having good things. Here
is a good article that will help, "Do You Gamble?".

Most people aren't conscious of their
selection of the words they use to consistently describe their
life experiences. Many people adopt words to describe their emotions
without even considering the potential impact their words have
on themselves and others.
The next thing you know, this is
their habitual vocabulary, and it actually shapes the way they
then feel about their lives.
Take the words like humiliation or
depression that people use to describe just any unpleasant experience.
Someone says something to them that
they don't appreciate and suddenly they're humiliated/depressed.
The same thing happens when someone
questions their point of view -- wham-o -- they're humiliated/depressed.
*Everything* humiliates or depresses them.
Why? Because they've attached these
words to almost any experience. It is critical to expand your
emotional vocabulary. The words you select need to produce the
emotional states you desire and
deserve.
Be really, really picky on what humiliates and depresses you.
Really, really picky. Here's an article that will help: "Let's
Be Choosey!". You can find it here: http://www.tameyourbrain.com/letsbechoosey.htm

Do you feel frustrated, depressed,
or restless? Do you know why?
One reason might be that you have aptitudes that are not being
used or properly expressed.
Learn what you are good at, and work at it. When you are good
at something, you are not usually frustrated, depressed, or restless
in those areas.
If you still find yourself frustrated, depressed, or restless,
find something else to be good at. Keep learning, keep trying,
keep living, because after all, frustration,
depression, and restlessness are just expressions.
Don't express the expressions that
don't get you where you want to go. Express yourself in ways that
help you enjoy life! Here's an article that might help: "What
Are You Saying?". You can find it here: http://www.tameyourbrain.com/whatyousay.htm

Do you get depressed easily?
Relax and practice resting yourself
in your Higher Power. Practice depending upon Him for His support
and power. Believe He is giving it to you now. Yield yourself
to it -- let it flow through you.
Now, look at what you were depressed
about.
Does it not have a different feeling
to it now?
===========================================
Do you feel depressed? Why not mentally say this to yourself several
times a day: *Every day in every way I am better, better, and
better.*
Guess what? Pretty soon you will find yourself not so depressed,
because your brain will start acting on what you have told it.
Soon, you will be better, better, and better.
Here is a page that may help. It's
called Good Thoughts. You'll find it here: http://www.tameyourbrain.com/goodthoughts.htm
===========================================
Form a clear mental image of all
things you want to have, be, do. Work with that image every day
as much as you can. Watch your life change around and see the
good things that start happening to you! Depression can soon be
a thing of the past! "I
Don't Like To Think About Depression. It's So . . . So . . .".

===========================================
Do you think of your life as a *Do-it-yourself*
project?
If not, why not?
If you hand the responsibility of your life over to others, then
they are living your life for you. Does that make your life something
you can be proud of? Probably not.
Start today with a *Do-it-yourself* project. Then, start tomorrow
with another one. And so on and so on. It may not be what you
want at first, but with practice it will be. And soon you will
wonder where your depression went.
===========================================
Do you know the power of self-talk?
Pretend your brain is on your shoulder.
Now, it can only hear what you tell it. It can't hear what others
are telling you. It can only hear what you are thinking and saying.
It doesn't matter what others are telling you if you don't believe
them. You filter what they say and that's what your brain hears.
Does it hear, *I'm depressed* *Everything I do is so depressing.*
*How can anyone possibly be happy around me, I'm so depressed.*
Whatever you are thinking, your brain is listening. What if you
said, *I'm getting better every day.*? Your brain has no idea
what you are talking about, so it just goes about making you better
at the things you do. You've just given yourself a chance. Congratulations!
===========================================
Do you know what the best kept secret of success is?
Your brain doesn't know the difference between something real
and something repeatedly and vividly imagined.
Did you have an experience that wasn't good? Why not get your
brain busy seeing vividly, and repeatedly, a better experience.
When your brain tries to think about the *real* experience, shift
immediately to your visualization of a better experience. Do that
continuously. Pretty soon, your thoughts will just go to the visualization.
