Are You Happy?
~ By Jan Tincher

Are you happy? If you aren’t, can you figure out why you aren’t? . . .

Because, there is definitely a reason.

Wouldn’t it be good to know the reason, so you can do something about it now? After all, there isn’t an 80 or 90 year old person alive who could look back on their lives and say -- with meaning -- *Man, I wish I would have been unhappier.*

Look at the basic fact here: Unhappy people lose at just about everything -- except getting unhappier. And that’s sad, isn’t it? Do you want to reach 80 or 90 years old and look back and realize that you were lost out most of your life? Just think of all the opportunities that passed you by. Opportunities that would have make you, or someone you love, happy.

Wouldn’t it be nice to start right now to change that now? Especially when you realize that if you are happy, you will live a longer, more productive, happier life!

Young or old, when you have unhappy feelings it usually goes back to how you feel about yourself. Maybe you don’t feel lovable, or attractive, or rich. Maybe you aren’t happy because your life isn’t where you want it to be, but you feel that that’s the norm, so you don’t even think about changing it.

Wouldn’t you like to be happy? Give being happy a chance to form in your life. (Remember, no matter how old you are, you can do this.) Here are three things to do.

1. Every morning when you first wake up, practice saying "I am so happy ___________." Fill in the blanks. You could fill them in with, " . . . I am healthy." Or any number of things. Rich, happy, productive, handsome, beautiful, gregarious, I can walk, I can sing, etc. There is always something, you just have to look hard enough. Say as many as you can for about 15 minutes every morning. If you still have time left and you can’t think of anything, repeat what you’ve said.

2. Then, every night before you go to sleep, do it all over again.

3. And any time you have some down time, like if you ride a bus, wait in lines, are put on hold, etc., repeat the process. It will give your mind somewhere productive to go and it will speed up your waiting time.

If you can’t think of a thing to be happy about, make up something. It doesn’t matter, because the process is here so you will feel happy at the moment, because . . . the more you feel happy, the more the happy feeling carries over into your life, and . . . the more the happy feeling carries into your life, the happier you’ll feel

The goal is to be happy. Stop losing and start winning. Good luck!

Thank you for reading.
