Are Your Pants Dry?
~ By Jan Tincher

Are your pants dry, or did you wet them because somebody scared the you-know-what out of you? A lot of times when we get scared, it’s because we see scary pictures that our mind brings up of past experiences that instantly frighten us. They are scary pictures if the moment we see them, we feel fear, and we have a frightful reaction. Do you see scary pictures in YOUR mind? . . .

Do you have stress? If you have stress, you need this!
"6 Short Weeks To A StressFree Life" ecourse now offers AUDIO! Now, with each session -- FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY -- audio is included FREE! Order here!

We don’t necessarily wet our pants, but we get so scared sometimes that we can’t function properly. We freeze.

If someone says *accident,* we all have our own memories or thoughts about accidents, and those memories or thoughts produce pictures. If the picture in our mind is really bad, we freeze. If we’ve never had an accident, or had a personal experience of seeing one, then we usually don’t.

If someone says *rape,* they are going to get different reactions from women then from men, no doubt. And each woman’s reaction is different, depending upon the knowledge or experience in the memory bank. If we’ve had a really bad experience, we freeze. On the other hand, if we haven’t had a really bad experience with that word, and we’ve just finished watching the "Charlie’s Angels" movie, we know that women can turn the tables and feel the power. Even if it was a far-out stunt that no one believes can actually be accomplished in real life, it still leaves room for the thought, *Maybe I can do it! Maybe I *can* overcome!*

In a broad sense, it was a fantastic movie about the powers of a woman. *Just when I think she’s down, she’s back up again! Hey, maybe I can do that in real life for some of the things that happen to me!* Parents, wouldn’t you want to instill a little of that in your daughters? I know, I know, some of them are precocious enough, but a little of that is a means to eliminating some of the *victim* feeling some girls grow up with. And there comes a time when you have to trust they do right by that power. If you instill it early enough with the right precautions, she’ll know what to do.

Now, going back to the picture we have in our minds that scares us, if you have a picture that pops up whenever anyone mentions a certain word, your body reacts to the picture as though it were happening right now, doesn’t it?

But you know what? It’s not happening right now, so why keep the picture around to make us feel like it? Let’s get rid of the picture -- along with the bad memories -- and feel the power THAT gives you!

Here’s how you do it!

Look at the picture in your mind and feel the fear. Visualize putting that picture on a piece of clear glass.

*** Sidebar *** We’ve talked about this technique before -- it’s called Shattering, so you are probably good at it by now if you’ve practiced. And if you haven’t, *why* haven’t you? It makes life a little easier, and that’s always good. *** End of Sidebar ***

Remember to put everything in that picture that terrifies you.

Now, in order to release the power that picture has over you, you need to use all of your senses -- hear, feel, smell, taste, see everything in that picture that says you ALWAYS get scared when you see it or someone says something that reminds you of it. If you’re using all your senses, your brain will be drawn to the picture, and that’s important, so double-check to make sure you’ve done it. We want your brain drawn to it before we shatter it.

OK, are you ready? Look at the picture you are visualizing on the piece of glass until it evokes all those feelings and you are REALLY feeling the fear -- then . . . SHATTER it!

Now, bring the picture back up, and SHATTER it! Bring it back up again, and SHATTER it 6 more times.

Now, look at the ceiling -- just to divert your attention for a moment.

Now, when you try to bring the picture back up, CAN YOU?

Most people can’t. Or if they do, it shatters automatically! Either way is perfectly acceptable.

*** Sidebar *** When your brain is drawn to a picture, a picture you shatter again and again, it will have the same effect as a fingernail scratching a chalkboard. Your brain will not like it, and will not want to bring that picture back up again. If you can’t bring the picture up, you won’t have it to serve your fear, and isn’t that great? *** End of sidebar ***

Believe me, this works. Pay attention, and if the scared feelings come back the next day, just SHATTER the picture 6 more times. You are, after all, in control, aren’t you? Pretty soon your brain will get the idea for good.

Remember, if you take the time and effort to change your view of reality, your brain will put in the time and effort to make your reality become your view. Take yourself out of the *victim* mentality and take control of your life. Good luck!

Jan
