Yes, Men, You Too Can Have PMS!

Do you have PMS? Or should I say "a" PMS? (Personal Mission Statement)? . . .

A Personal Mission Statement is something like: I am kind, considerate, loving, giving, forgiving, etc. Meaning it is your personal mission in life to be all of those things.

If those words are in your Personal Mission Statement, do you feel you live up to them? Or do you feel you let yourself down a certain percentage of the time?

For instance, when you were little (or even now), did you walk "ahead" of older people like your grandparents or folks? Or a friend that was different? Because you didn't want people to think you were with them? Do you find yourself doing that now sometimes? If so, does that fit your PMS?

No, huh? Well, how about these things?

Do you leave certain people out of your party invitations?

Do you pay more for gifts for some and not others?

Do you dress better when you go here and not when you go there?

Are you more tolerant of a friend than you are of your child/spouse?

Do you check to see 'what's in it for me?' before doing something?

You know, if you are happy with whatever you've said yes to the above -- that's OK.

But for those of you who aren't happy with these or any other actions because they don't fit your PMS, maybe this will help:

Every morning, look in the mirror and say your Personal Mission Statement.

Start out by saying, "My Personal Mission Statement is...", then follow with whatever you feel your Personal Mission Statement is.

Here are some examples:

I am kind, considerate and loving.

I love, I am loved, I am loving.

I treat everyone equally.

I appreciate the good points of everyone I'm with and I set the not-so-good points aside.

I focus on the good things today.

When I start out my day, my thoughts are 'What can I do to help someone?'

If I see someone with a problem, today I will help them.

When the above, or something equally motivating, is said with feeling every day, several times a day, that's where your life will go.

Do you rule your Personal Mission Statement, or do you find yourself wishing you were better?

Here's how you can tell: Are you a walking, talking advertisement for your Personal Mission Statement? OR are your shoulders slumped, your eyes down, your walk slow, indicating to one and all that you are having bad thoughts?

If that's the case, practice walking the way that says you are in control, practice thinking the way that says you are in control, practice talking the way that says you are in control, practice acting the way that says you are in control. If you practice it enough, that's all your brain will have to go on because that's all you are showing it, and that will be your life.

Decide who you are -- what your Personal Mission Statement is -- and act it!

And isn't it great to reassign the meaning people usually give PMS? Always remember your Personal Mission Statement and enjoy life!
