Relief
From Stress, Depression, & Worry
|
When my husband had his open heart surgery there were several opportunities for stress, depression and worry. We could have had any or all from the surgery, from the bills, from all that time to sit and think.
Then, as if that wasn't enough . . .
We couldn't let it be a part of our lives, right?
What did that mean?
That meant we had to make a decision.
We were told that people suffer depression after open heart surgery, as well as stress and worry, and we knew he would have lots of opportunities for for all three, what with 6 weeks recuperation at home doing nothing.
But we also knew that you have to make a decision before you worry, or feel depressed, or feel stressed.
It's automatic. It's a decision to worry, or feel depressed, or feel stressed.
The same holds true if you don't worry, or feel depressed, or feel stressed. You have to make a decision not to worry, or feel depressed, or feel stressed. Then, put your mind elsewhere.
But where, you ask? Well, as David, in his daily ezine, Daily Dose of Happiness, http://www.thehappyguy.com/daily-happiness-free-ezine.html says: "To reduce stress, flip your thoughts upside down by taking control.
Instead
of worrying about change, start imagining every
possible opportunity in change.
Instead of worrying about next month's budget,
cut your costs. My note: Or explore new
revenues of income.
Instead of being nervous about that sales presentation, practice it until you become the master.
Stress is usually the result of not being in control. Take control now."
And that's all I'm saying. You have got to take control of your thoughts in order to make the right decisions.
Everybody gets sick. It's how to get well that should be in their minds.
Everybody has trouble sometime in their lives paying bills, a time when next week's paycheck won't be soon enough to handle everything. It's how they think that will either attract some additional income to help tide them over or attract more problems. What you focus on comes into your life. Are you focusing on more bills or allowing ways to make more money to come into your life?
So, answer this question now if you will. What are you focusing on?
Everyone gets bad news. It's how we handle it in our minds that brings or doesn't bring the resulting stress or depression or worry.
Whatever you do, don't let stress, depression, or worry add to your problems.
Stress, depression, or worry are usually the result of not being in control. Take control now.
