Are You Constipated -- In The Mind?
~ By Jan Tincher

Constipation can be of the body AND of the mind.

Are you afraid of the future? Do you hold things in?

Well, guess what? When you hold things in mentally, you hold them in physically as well. Hence, constipation, colitis, etc. Realize that you are affecting your body in some way with each thought -- positively, negatively, or just neutrally -- depending on the thought. The cells are standing at attention, waiting for your commands.

But I can’t help it, you say? If I let it out, if I let go of my feelings, I might hurt someone.

Well, here’s some news for you. There are many ways you can let it out without hurting anyone. They just are so easy, people tend to forget about them.

If the analogy of holding things in, in your body, is true -- which it is -- then the importance of letting things out is also true.

How do we let things out? Well, let’s think about that. Sometimes, we let things out not in a constructive way, but in a destructive way. Anger, frustration, etc. Why not find out how to let things out on purpose in a constructive way?

Some people punch a punching bag. Some people punch other people.

Some people pound nails. Some people pound other people.

Some people talk themselves out of their anger. Some people talk to others in anger.

The idea here is to not hold it in. The idea here, also, is to not release it upon others.

The idea here is to find a constructive way to let out your anxieties, anger, fear, frustration. The idea here is to live a better life, so that you can show others how to live a better life, so they can show others how to live a better life, etc. People learn by example. What kind of an example are you showing them?

Figure it out. If you don’t like the example you are showing, change it.

Here are some good, productive ways to handle your angst.

Pound nails in an old 2x4. Spend an hour talking to yourself and pounding nails.

Talk to God. About everything. Don’t stop until you feel the peace.

Write a letter, then tear it up.

Help someone out of their angst by sharing your POSITIVE views. Every time they look down, you look down, then slowly up. They’ll soon catch on.

When your head is up, you are open to possibilities.

Teach your children these methods to release their negative feelings also. Be there for them, so they can learn early in life how to handle their thoughts.

Teach them responsibility for their thoughts.

Raise responsible adults, who in turn raise responsible adults, who in turn . . .

Well, you get the picture. What a concept, huh. <grin>
