You've Gotta Die From Something

"You've gotta die from something. May as well be what you eat, so eat what you like." I hear that all the time . . .

Ironic, isn't it? People are choosing their way to die instead of their way to live.

I have a friend who smokes. He has the same type of logic. "I'm gonna die from something. I might just as well enjoy the journey."

Can you believe it? These people are actually picking a way to die. Forget the fact that if they didn't eat all that cholesterol laden food they could add years to their lives. Good years. Forget the fact that if they didn't put all that nicotine in their lungs and body they could add even more years to their life. More good years. Forget the fact that it's just plain dumb to think about a good way to die. There is no good way to die. There is usually only pain and heartache. If not for them, then for their families.

What can they do? They can not give up.

I know, I know. That's a lot of work.

Really? And work wears you out. Work takes discipline.

Yeah, but work has its rewards. A good healthy life to spend with your children and grandchildren. Or you can refuse to work at it and end up having a sick, weak life to spend with your children and grandchildren, who, no doubt, will be tempted to either pity you or ignore you. (Either way, they certainly won't admire your decision.)

I like the sign "Your retirement years depend on what you do right now." Granted that's a sign at an investment firm, but it matches what we're talking about to a T.

Start getting control of your life. Start saying good things to yourself. "I am healthy. I heal quickly and easily. If I am worried about my health, I will immediately go to the doctor, get whatever needs to be done fixed and leave with a clean bill of health so I get on with my life. I am through worrying about every little thing. I will take charge immediately. Life is meant to be lived with a smile."

Not what you want to hear? Well, do you like to hear this? "I don't feel good." And guess what? It's not followed up with, "I'll get myself to a doctor and get everything checked out." Nope, it's followed up with the thought, "I'll get around to it later." And you get sicker and sicker because you are ignoring the signs. That's what I mean by "Or you can refuse to work at it and end up having a sick, weak life to spend with your children and grandchildren."

Spooky, huh? Why not start saying this (and keep saying many times every day, see what changes that makes in your life), "I am healthy. I heal quickly and easily. If I am worried about my health, I will immediately go to the doctor, get a clean bill of health and get on with my life. I am through worrying about every little thing. I will take charge immediately. Life is meant to be lived with a smile."

Choose how you are going to live, not how you are going to die, because sometimes dying seems to take so much longer than living. It's your choice.
